Sonic Screwdriver Makes a Great Geek Gift
I recently became a Dr. Who fan when I stumbled up the latest several reincarnations of Dr. Who on Netflix. I quickly worked my way through the episodes of the Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Doctors.
If you know anything about Dr. Who, you know about his Sonic Screwdriver. On the show, this fine bit of alien technology seals doors, hacks into computers, and may even drive screws.
Now, you can get this replica of the 11th Doctor’s sonic screwdriver, as well as several earlier models, from ThinkGeek. They’ve got a bunch of other Dr. Who stuff, too. Great stuff for the geeks on your holiday shopping list.
World's largest 3D painting creates nifty optical illusion
Actors pose with gym equipment on what the Guinness World Records bills as the world's largest 3D painting, at Canary Wharf in London November this week. British artist Joe Hill's creation measures in excess of 1120 square meters, or 12,000 square feet. Guinness says it breaks records for the longest and largest surface area 3D painting. Stunning One Of A Kind Ukrainian Loft Apartment
This fascinating Ukrainian Apartment has so many incredible details, that it could be considered one of the best apartments I have seen lately. The top floor apartment designed by Ukrainian architecture studio 2B Group is located in a building in Kiev, Ukraine. The inspiring interior design captures a multitude of styles, all designed to offer a seamless collection of textures, colors, shapes and materials. Wood, concrete, glass, metal, exposed brick – all these materials found their place in the apartment’s interior design and surprising lines and details were shaped with their help. A green wall in the living/dining space brings nature indoors and a small terrace just above it allows a fantastic view of the mirror-framed ray-textured wall displaying the TV and sound system. Design details like the fabulous concrete wine rack embedded in the kitchen wall or the perfectly embedded stone poufs give the living space a unique, strong character. A red container shelters a black and yellow bathroom. The green wall continues down to the lower floor, where an impressive lounge/home office space and a second living space lead to the gorgeous master bedroom. The children’s room and bathroom are cheery and bold, creating an inspiring place to grow up in. The exceptional rooftop terrace is lined with geometric floor lights and features everything needed to enjoy the best of modern architecture and lifestyle. Looking at the photos, you can see how amazing details were placed in the right spots, creating a one-of-a-kind loft apartment, on my list for the best dream homes.
